Various Styles of Hearing Aids
There are many hearing aid styles available on the market, each with different options that alter the fit and look. The three styles of hearing aids we carry include:
- Behind the Ear - A larger aid, used with an earmold and tube to pair sound from receiver to canal. The receiver is located in the unit behind the ear.
- Receiver in the Ear - The most typical style of hearing aid, a receiver from the unit behind the ear is fitted in the canal using either a dome-type of coupling or custom earmold.
- Custom - Custom hearing aids are typically made by taking an impression of the ear and fitting the whole unit in the ear. They can be either invisible like the IIC (invisible in the canal) or large like the ITE (in the ear), which takes up the whole bowl of the ear.
